BeanScene Magazine

john-2Position, Position, Position...

The famous and often quoted maxim for real estate purchase is position, position, position! One of the most frequently used pieces of equipment in our forays out into the word these days is the Global Positioning System (GPS). Position continues to be important for all human endeavours and industry growth is no different.

Since the beginning of Prime Creative’s stewardship of the BeanScene title, we have positioned the magazine to facilitate and support growth for the coffee industry in Australia. We remain committed to supporting the industry in an inclusive and holistic approach to publishing, as well as engaging the coffee enthusiast and lover.

In this respect, BeanScene holds a unique position in the coffee marketplace.  BeanScene is a place for the industry, the enthusiast and the consumer to meet and share stories, experiences, information and innovation from the world of coffee.

In 2010 we continue our commitment to this positioning – including in the magazine letters from readers, consumer product profiles, celebrity interviews, chef interviews, industry reflections, brewing methodologies and more intricate origin and bean profiles. All things coffee for all lovers of coffee!

Thank you for continuing to return to BeanScene issue after issue, for your feedback via phone, email and forums, and for the commitment of the advertisers who underwrite the economic necessities of the publishing and distribution process.

We look forward to meeting many of you at the first official BeanScene gathering, The Coffee Experience (at the Good Food and Wine Show Melbourne), June 4-6 2010. Another great opportunity for the industry to engage with coffee enthusiasts and coffee lovers to share all that coffee has to offer.

We do hope you enjoy this edition of BeanScene and we welcome your feedback.

Cuisine and Caffeine

The inaugural Cuisine and Caffeine dinner was held on 26 July 2010 in the recently relaunched Little Press and Cellar at the prestigious Press Club. It was a night of who’s who in coffee and the first time boutique coffees have been matched with fine dining.

Hosted by BeanScene editor, Steve Agi, the night far surpassed expectations for a highly caffeinated culinary feast.

Fresh from his on-screen commitments with Masterchef, Press Club owner and head chef, George Calombaris, entertained guests with his deep passion for food and presented a stunning menu that was designed specifically to enrich and enhance the flavours of some of the best coffee available in Australia.

Guests were treated to seven courses of mouth- watering, coffee-inspired delights. Dishes were not only infused with world class coffees specially roasted by Crivelli Coffee, Genovese Coffee, Gridlock Coffee, Jack and the Bean, Australian Independent Roasters and vittoria Coffee. Brewed coffees were also presented to guests for the first time, through the recently launched and lauded, Bunn-O-Matic – trifecta, single cup filter brewer.

Cuisine and Caffeine lived up to its promise to bring together the fine-food and coffee industries, with a common view to share in the quintessential experience of matching and enjoying some of the

world’s best food and coffee in contemporary surroundings.

It transcends traditional state rivalries and intra-industry competition and is instead an inclusive and welcome event which aims to grow and develop Australia’s vibrant and dynamic coffee industry by offering a new platform and opportunity to experience the humble coffee bean like never before.

Keep an eye out for the next Cuisine and Caffeine event coming soon.
